Big Three offer discounts as Toyota issues massive recall.

Sounds like a smart move to me. Hope it gives them a much needed boost.

Oh, that's right, I'm supposed to wish the Big Three nothing but failure because Republicans hate unions.

Naw, fuck that.

Yeah, good move. Too bad Shelby can't figure out a way to block this too. He got paid good money for getting that Toyota plant built in Huntsville. F^@%ing whore!

I only drive UAW built autos. Many Libs can't say that. And millionaires are more likely to own F150s than any other demographic (that's interesting, no?).

I've got a teenie smirk for Toyota. They're getting hammered with this.

Never owned anything but American cars. Well, that's not totally true. I did find out that the Mighty BlueStreak was made in Canada. And a little research revealed that some American companies have moved production across the border into Canada because the company doesn't have to pay for employee------HEALTH INSURANCE. (Where's Rob when I need him?)

I have a huge smirk for Toyota. Now we're finding out that Toyota management has known about this for a while.......

You know, I understand that many Americans now depend on foreign manufacturing for their income....Heck, I'm one of them, I work for Italians.
But there's just something about the Japanese way of doing things that's unique---and sticks in my craw. The whole "Born to serve the company" thing is just a tad too Orwellian for my taste.

So far, I like working for Italians, it's different, but in a good way. They seem to like top notch equipment, and that's makes my job so much more enjoyable. All of the American companies were just a bunch of cheap, tight-wad bastards that would make us work with beat-up 80 year old pieces of shit, and then blame us when it broke down. (Damn Republicans.)

Anyhow,

I hope this situation helps GM, Ford, and Chrysler get back on their feet. Then, maybe we'll get some of our money back?

I follow motor racing a bit, mostly Formula One. Recently Toyota shut down their F1 operation in Koln, just shut it down. Now, Toyota hasn't exactly set the world on fire in F1 and Honda bowed out a year earlier (but the resold team won the whole show in 2009 as "Brawn GP") but I wondered about the sudden and unexpected move by Toyota. When the recall surfaced I thought I'd found the answer. They cut an expensive and marginally useful program to help pay for all the law suits heading their way.

By the way, I've owned American, European and Japanese cars. I've just bought what appealed to me and what would serve my needs. There was a time when there was no US made car that fit that bill. (We made some real turds for a very long time.) But... my last three vehicles have all been Ford pickups.

Yeah, all 4 of my 'domestic' Grand Marquis were built in Canada. But close enough

My SOs' PC Cruiser was built in Mexico

I worked for a Sicillian - yipes. Squeeze a nickle and get 6 cents!

Agreed about the whole Asian business culture, I bet it would drive us nuts.

I currently work for some Jewish gentlemen, it is the best company I've ever worked for.

And Toyotas going DOWN!!
