Take a look at the number of interconnected lifts in the Arlberg area (St. Anton-Lech-Zurs). I skied there almost every weekend from late November to early April for 5 years. It's the birthplace of Alpine skiing and was 2.5 hours from where I lived.

It is all a show for local (US) politics.
However, in the meantime we are shouting the "The Russians are coming" we
have given the Chinese our lunch.

Skiing for days without seeing the same run. Cool!

It's a pretty well known thing to do to start skiing in Zurs and ski a big circuit through Lech and back into Zurs that evening without doing the same run twice. It's a good, long day including a nice pause for pasta and wine in Lech. Ahh, the good ol' days. My last 5 years there, I skied about 60 days a year. I bought a new pair of skis every year and used the previous year's as my "rock skis." No wonder my knees are damn near shot.

I suspect the Democrats will go along.
This is not good. What we're doing is essentially what the Soviets did when they pre-positioned military hardware in Cuba. That almost stsrted WWIII.

How do you feel about the Russian Air Force and Navy antics in the Baltic region? As for Cuba, it was intermediate-range nuclear missiles that triggered the crisis, not "pre-positioned military hardware."

Not the same Boreas, these are conventional weapons.
The Baltics are howling because
1) They have a sizable Russian ethnic group which they have tried
to marginalize.
2)They have lost a lot of their young to emigration.
3) They want US military presence as a source of employment.

Not to mention that they're frightened by Vlad's antics.

One thing you can always depend on with humans...what they say it is never is what it really is.
