Besides my time spent at University Hospital on Euclid Avenue, which is one of the most beautiful hospitals I have ever seen*, I also wanted to comment on the rest of my visit.

Now, it may be because of the route we took into and out of the city, but I was struck by the architecture and beauty of the parts we saw. We drove down Fairmount Avenue through Shaker Heights, the Fairmount-Cedar district and Little Italy. With the fresh snow and decorations on the large Tudor and French Provincial style homes, it almost looked unreal, like something off of a Christmas card.

I didn't see much evidence of decay, but I'm sure it could be found without too much trouble if one looks in the right places. But, this is true of most cities. I can find rot and decay, here. And I don't have to go far.

On Tuesday we had lunch (in the hospital) at Wolfgang Pucks. Dinner on the way home at Corky and Lennys in Shaker Heights, home of the best dang Reuben on the planet!

Picked up a six of Great Lakes "Christmas Ale". I intend to put a dent in that tonight.

(*Seriously. Take a walk through Lerner Tower.)
