All you have to do anymore is say "But officer, I was skeered for my life so I kilt em' with my gun".
Who's to say otherwise, the other person is dead.
Such is our society.

“He shot her in the head ... for what? For knocking on his door,” Spinks told the paper.“If he felt scared or threatened, he should have called 911. ... She went looking for help and now she’s dead.”
Family members described McBride as a hardworking, soft-spoken woman who keeps to herself, according to WJBK-TV.
Earlier, police said that the victim's body had been left on the porch after her death, but police since determined that she was shot there. Police said they have identified the shooter, but haven't released a name. According to the Dearborn Press & Guide, a report has been sent to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, who would be responsible for charging the suspect."

Doesn't sound like a castle doctrine defense is applicable in this case. This asshole opened the door and blew her head off with a twelve gauge shotgun.

It's supposed to be a 'reasonable fear of death or serious bodily harm.' Still, if no witnesses, it's the shooters word against nobody's. May get off.

This would never happen if she had an AR15 with a 32 round clip, just ask La Pee Air.

It's happened before. In Warren, Ohio, 2008, two Obama campaign workers were shot on the sidewalk as they approached a mans home. By his own testimony, he saw them coming up the sidewalk with campaign signs in their hands, he stepped out onto the porch and shot them. No words were exchanged. One of the victims died.
He tried to invoke the Castle Doctrine.
IIRC, it didn't fly.

Update, she was shot in the back of the head on the front porch and the shooter claims that his shotgun accidently discharged. Sounds like bullshit to me.

It could actually be an accident and he still goes to jail. Sometimes accidents are crimes. He shouldn't have had that twitchy finger on the trigger,
The stinky thing is, before anyone knew anything, the police were telling people the body was 'dumped' there. If they could have gotten by with it, they would have swept it under the rug.
