Thank You, Secretary Gates!

Such common sense will most certainly result in waves of criticism from the Right.

Screw the Left! How's that for "polarization."
It's time for that cry baby to go.

He said something that will likely anger those on both the left and the right. His wistful thoughts of limited media filtering out extreme views shows just how much of an establishment figure he has been. I certainly understand his point about media needing to have a BS filter, but I think the filters should be based on the honesty and logic of the positions being presented rather the point on the political spectrum from which such views arose.

I do however appreciate his statesmanly approach to overcoming partisan divides to actually address issues. He also has a good point about gerrymandering districts.

Regards,

D-Ray

Yes, I know. That's why this thread is a joke and the cry baby needs to go away.

Oh, no. That's when they're at their best, honesty-wise----When their careers are over and they no longer need their jobs. Let the man speak.

Well, he didn't anger me.

But like yourself, I'm not too hep on his limited media views. I see that as no more than mind control.

Gates starts to say what he really thinks.....

Quote:
And without naming any of today’s leaders or presidential candidates, he warned: “Those who think that they alone have the right answers, those who demonize those who think differently, and those who refuse to listen and take other points of view into account—these leaders, in my view, are a danger to the American people and to the future of our republic.”
Everyone would benefit if those in power would think a little more this way right about now. Instead of wanting a power grab think about what it is doing to our understanding of others.
