Sessions caught in a big whopper
Quote:
Officials: Sessions met Russian envoy
Adam Entous, Ellen Nakashima, Greg Miller, Washington Post Published 6:13 pm, Wednesday, March 1, 2017

Attorney General Jeff Sessions faced pushback Tuesday against the Trump administration's crackdown on illegal immigration. A top California official warned that the White House's hardline immigration policies could undermine Sessions' goal to rein in violent crime. The exchange came after Sessions delivered his first public speech in his new job: a call to return to a tough-on-crime approach as way to reduce the scourge of drugs and violence.

WASHINGTON - Then-Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., spoke twice last year with Russia's ambassador to the United States, Justice Department officials said, encounters he did not disclose when asked about possible contacts between members of President Donald Trump's campaign and representatives of Moscow during Sessions's confirmation hearing to become attorney general.
One of the meetings was a private conversation between Sessions and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak that took place in September in the senator's office, at the height of what U.S. intelligence officials say was a Russian cyber campaign to upend the U.S. presidential race.
The previously undisclosed discussions could fuel new congressional calls for the appointment of a special counsel to investigate Russia's alleged role in the 2016 presidential election. As attorney general, Sessions oversees the Justice Department and the FBI, which have been leading investigations into Russian meddling and any links to Trump's associates. He has so far resisted calls to recuse himself.
When Sessions spoke with Kislyak in July and September, the senator was a senior member of the influential Armed Services Committee as well as one of Trump's top foreign policy advisers. Sessions played a prominent role supporting Trump on the stump after formally joining the campaign in February 2016.
At his Jan. 10 Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing, Sessions was asked by Sen. Al Franken, a Minnesota Democrat, what he would do if he learned of any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of the 2016 campaign.
"I'm not aware of any of those activities," he responded. He added: "I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians."
Officials said Sessions did not consider the conversations relevant to the lawmakers' questions and did not remember in detail what he discussed with Kislyak.

As long as there are no repercussions for lying, does it matter?
It's pretty Alice in Wonderland that truth no longer matters to republicans. I guess that can be added to the list along with "deficits" and "Osama bin Laden" "the environment" and "the working poor"

When the Liar in Chief lies daily, why not his underlings.
But this isn't going away folks nor can it be swept under the rug. As an ex-Senator, Sessions better start looking over his shoulder. Pelosi has already called him a liar though Senator Franken has not yet.

More throwing shit against the wall to see if it sticks. As a sitting Senator, he wouldn't have spoken with Ambassadors from any number of countries, including Russia?
But please, keep this crap up. Its fun political theater, but that's all it'll ever amount to.

You seem to be the one that's throwing crap around here.
Don't you think that Sessions who is an attorney and a Trump campaign surrogate (he admitted as much upon questioning) should have come forward and admitted meeting with the Russian ambassador, if only for the sake of giving himself cover? And this during confirmation hearings under oath?
This stinks man, really stinks and Russia is the new Benghazi, except the tables are turned.

Trump should get rid of this little sawed off runt.
The only reason he got this job was that he sucked Trump's dick during the primary season.
As if Trump needed this little shit's endorsement to win Alabama.
Little fucker was born in Alabama and his parents named him after Jefferson Davis. That tells you what kind of upbringing he had. Probably still has his sheet and pointy hat in his closet.

That would be fine with me.
I'd much prefer a good old Tony Soprano type from Jersey than a Jefferson Davis type from Alabama.

Yeah, lies don't apply here, he was testifying to some Alternate Senate in an Alternate Country on an Alternative Planet in an Alternate Universe.
Right?
