This is just another sad reminder of what a weak President Obama was.

That Supreme Court seat was by every right his to fill, and yet he let the Republicans take it away from him. I guarantee you, if Trump had been in that position, or if he finds himself in a similar position down the road, there is no way in Hell that he would let that happen to him. That's the difference between an Alpha Male and a Beta Male.
BS. In Washington, votes are votes and your blather means nothing.

What could Obama have possibly done? Lindsey Graham told Obama when discussing the SCOTUS nominee that Obama could "appoint [Graham himself] to the bench and [he'd] still oppose it." The Republicans were never giving Garland a chance.

It was a 100% partisan move that now sets a terrible precedent for the future. It's baffling how congressmen only ever look at the short term with their decisions and never consider the future outcomes of their actions. The precedent set by the move to not hold a Garland confirmation hearing will come back to haunt the GOP eventually.

That being said, Neil Gorsuch looks to be an excellent judge who could make a a fine Supreme Court Justice. Hopefully, the Democrats in Congress will show him the respect that the Republicans failed to show Garland.
