Yes, including devaluing it in the blink of an eye at the touch of a button.

Hey take it down to 20 cents, boosts exports, cuts imports, and pays off the Chinese at twenty cents on the dollar, works for me.

Then all the subsidies China and India have been handing out to suck our industry into their countries will have been a waste.

Watching Newshour last evening, in India when the husband dies the kids toss the widow out into the streets and let her fend for herself. I suppose that is better than the older custom of tossing her on his funeral pyre. These sure are nice folks to be doing business with.

Face it people being a woman over in the middle east sucks.

Social Security/Medicare/Medicaid is 40% and growing because it is an "entitlement" program.

Who even knows what the new Health Care crap will cost?

Maybe we could concentrate somewhere other than defense ??
I'd like to see the support for the statistics you cited. I've seen where defense spending accounts for about a third of the budget.

Blaming social security for the deficit mess is the biggest lie the right has fomented.

So then gas prices are $16 per gallon and a fast food meal for 1 is around $30? EVERYTHING is 5 or 6 times (or more) its current price in a heartbeat. Hello Weimar.

That's just great.

It was late and I guess the "other" defense category was the 7% cited with the Total defense budget at 19%. Medicare is 23% and Social Security is 20%.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget . . . and find the "Explore The Budget" link to the right of the graphic in the middle of the page.

Oh really? Seems to me we raise most of our own food and never eat in fast food places so why would their costs go up? If there actually is any beef in a big mac it would be western beef.

As for gas prices we could shop in the golf cart.

You seem to forget that if we stop importing there is going to be a lot of tears shed, and it won't be here.

The Weimar Republic failed due to an SOB named Clemanceau.

What food we import is not essential to sustain life so who cares what it costs. BTW in case your calculator need new batteries twenty cents is one fifth of a dollar.
