Saw Florence Foster Jenkins yesterday. The acing was terrific. Simon Helberg Stole several scenes - he was hilarious. Overall, it was a bit troubling to me. I have seen enough of attention cravers in the news recently. All of the gentle treatment the title character received was a result of her wealth. Another parallel?

So much for parallel, how about a stark contrast. We watched Searching for Sugar Man again last night. Is is an extremely high quality documentary. The protagonist is a failed musician and song-writer in the US that became bigger than Elvis in South Africa during the 70s, but he didn't know it. The grace with which he handled the life he lived rather than what could have been is amazing. He was robbed of millions of dollars in royalties, but he expressed no bitterness. As far as I know, the only access to this movie is to stream it (or buy the DVD) from Amazon. For those who haven't seen in, I highly recommend it.

There is a BBC movie entitled 'Common' on Netflix. Title refers to a doctrine in British law called 'common purpose' or 'joint enterprise,' the same sort of thing as our 'felony murder' laws that make all involved guilty of murder if one of the gang kills someone. The movie is out to show this working unfairly. It does.

In the process, they make a finely acted, very intense drama that covers a murder investigation from a different perspective than the usual one of the hard-working crime fighters. Good film.

If Trump is elected, it would be up his street to try to get the SST program started up again, so he can have one for Air Force One. Of course, he'd never get it finished in 8 years....

I heard an NPR story a few hours ago about a 19 passenger SST being designed and expected to be available in about five years. The plane's intended market is well healed business travelers.

Back on topic. Went to Premier Video today and will be watching Young Frankenstein in a few hours.
