We all know how the Russians are, but have as yet to see how nasty these Fascist punks in the Ukraine can be if they get their way. We shouldn't try to protect anyone that could turn out worse than what they replaced......
We've done enough of that already.

When I saw the Svoboda Party symbol it practically screamed swastika inspired.

Syria, for instance. We may not be aiding al Qaeda directly but we're definitely helping to precipitate an outcome that's, more likely than not, going to advance al Qaeda's long and short term aims.
Our best chance of an acceptable outcome in Syria lay in cooperating with Russia to bring about a peaceful resolution of the conflict. After a promising beginning with regard to the Syrian chemical ordinance, we seem to have tossed that hope out of the window owing to pour stance regarding Ukraine.
I really don't know what the fuck these guys are thinking!!

I think they've officially dumped that symbol, sort-of, not completely....
Some brew of new-nation extreme nationalism, and old antisemitism, and historical memory of the Nazis as the enemies of Russia, makes the Ukraine fertile ground for this I guess. But keep in mind they are not all Nazis, and hope saner heads get a handle on things.

In much the same way the American South "dumped" the Confederate battle flag.
The Svoboda "swastika" was seen prominently in Maidan, along with Right Sector and UPA flags.

The problem of course is that there are no diplomats in Washington. Maybe they need to drag Kissinger out of retirement. Even at 90, he's likely sharper then anyone else in that town.
At least we have learned one thing about Kerry; he can sure deliver a funny line with a straight face!!

Well, to be fair Kerry was talking about the Shrub but I get what you mean. I had to chuckle when Kerry made that statement too.

Pat, isn't this within the Russia "sphere of influence?"
I mean, if we went into Canada for a similar reason????
We went halfway around the globe to invade Iraq.
I don't know just how a truly neutral and unbiased look at this would be.
I am trying to form an opinion on all this.
I would appreciate your "smarts" on this.
If you have spoken to this elsewhere I have missed it, I don't stop in as often as I should.
all the best

As far as the new Ukrainian government, perhaps we should wait and see before forming opinions. We have Putins actions to go on with no conjecture necessary.
I mentioned our favorite KBG agent will end up with the Crimea with almost no pain. But the sabre rattling in Eastern Ukraine continues, 'he will use troops to protect Russians there'. When I agree with Hillary mark the date.
