There is an area here in Brooklyn where there is a concentration of people
from Panama. They speak Spanish with a West Indian accent.
I know many West Indians, especially Jamaicans were employed in building
the canal.
Bocas, are their descendants still in Panama in any appreciable quantity?

Appearances mean a lot in foreign affairs. And we're really willing to walk away from our written guarantees?

Thanks. It pisses me off that they think it'll work, and it might.

Wow. I go away for a little while, and how this place has changed!

I can't remember how long I was gone this time, probably about a year. Really, I think it's largely the same with many of the same active posters and a few new ones that fit the established patterns.
What is new, or at least newly discovered, is the shills. I don't think we had them before, except maybe mezz. Also, the shilling/trolling seems to have switched ideology. Before it was always home-grown right wingers. Now it seems to be coming from overseas and to have something of a neo-Soviet bent.

The indigenous (Chiriquí pronounced Cherokee) do most of the labor, fishing and tourist services. Spanish usual have a business of sorts and the Chino's own all the food stores and Ferreterias. (supply stores/hardware)

Admittedly, this thread was where I spent most of my time, but it sure did have a different feel from times past.
