I think we ought to join the 10 countries who enforce compulsory voting laws. You have to vote, or pay a small fine.

Or at least make voting day a national holiday and maybe have it on a Saturday.

I like these ideas! Although I would recommend Friday or Monday instead of Saturday as the national voting holiday. Three day weekends and if you chose not to vote you get to pick up trash on the side of a busy highway for three days.

Actually if you do not want to vote that should be your right. If you think about it alot of those "Democratic Republics" in Eastern Europe had the same laws..that is why the Party Chairman always won with 99% of the vote.
Of course here in the USA us leftist "social elites" benefit from bubba not voting so as to further our agendas....until the Tea Party

Easy peasy - just put 'none of the above' on the ballot.

One thing that might help is a law that says all workers must have 4 consecutive hours in which to vote during the hours the polls are open. It is done that way in Canada why can't we do it here?

In Ohio they are shortening early voting hours to 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM five days a week, no weekends, in strong Democratic counties. This is the time when most real working people are at work. On the reverse side early voting hours in predominately Republican counties is being extended into the night and weekends.

It is a clear sign that Republicans are can't win an election unless they rig it. Both Bush wins are very suspect. Ohio was the major player in the 2004 election when exit polling showing a Democratic victory was eminent until the returns went haywire and the exit polling statistics indicating Democratic wins actually turned into Republican victories that allowed the Republican media to trumpet victory, for Bush, immediately.

This is going to be the dirtiest election in the history of this country. It will be interesting.

GET RID OF ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINES WITH NO PAPER TRAIL.

I know. It is an imperfect solution. And if I understand you correctly, you're right about the dangers of requiring the ignorant Tea Party hate-mongers to turn up on election day.

I think they should have a 10 question test (in English) that you have to pass prior to voting. Kansas requires photo ID as of this year.

The GOP would be thereby decimated, particularly its blue collar Bubba base.
