all that has happened here is we have shown our enemies how divided we are.
we can now expect them to step up attacks on our troops. i agree the gen. should have voiced his comments directly to the president and not to RS however this mess will now end worse than our defeat in vietnam and korea.

this war cannot be won unless we take off the gloves and fight like we fought in WW2 and i dont belive we have the leadership in either the civilian or military
to do so. amercians have become a nation of whiney cowards who need the fed. to babysit them in every way. this is a sad day for our nation

I think once again, this war demonstrates the folly of a technological power-Us, namely- trying to blast an enemy back into the stone age who's really already there. Either go in there & let the generals pave the whole gotdang place-Like we prolly coulda done cheaper in Vietnam, or stay the hell out. The only way to get completely rid of the Taliban is to kill every man-child who's old enuff to have hair on his nutz. And we all know, THAT ain't gonna happen. From what I've read, the South Vietnamese leaders back in the Sixties & Seventies were as bad, if not perhaps worse than the people we were ostensibly fighting.. I'm pretty sure this bunch isn't a whole lot different...

i also dont belive obama has the experience to make military decisions of any kind. no person should be able to be elected to office of the president without serving in the military. military service should be manditory for all amercains.

as for "shitcanning a hawkish general" truman cost the lives of many troops by prolonging a war that we could have ended. and which we may yet get to fight again.
