Another reason to hate wally world

If its legal on what grounds can they fire him ?

http://www.wzzm13.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=119421
Medical marijuana is legal in Michigan but WalMart claims it has the right to fire anyone who uses it anyway. When a routine drug screening detected marijuana in his system, Joseph Casias was fired as a matter of policy.

Former WalMart Associate Of The Year at the WalMart store in Battle Creek, Joseph Casias, showed them his medical marijuana card to no avail. "I was told they do not accept or honor my medical marijuana card," says Casias.

"I gave them everything," he says. "110 percent every day. Anything they asked me to do I did. More than they asked me to do. 12 to 14 hours a day."

WalMart spokesman Greg Rossiter explained, "In states, such as Michigan, where prescriptions for marijuana can be obtained, an employer can still enforce a policy that requires termination of employment following a positive drug screen. We believe our policy complies with the law and we support decisions based on the policy."

Sorry Joe. At WalMart you're not a person. You're just another employee number.

True, but it is legal in Michigan, along with many other states.

Around here, painters all drink like fishes. It seems like a job requirement. I understand though. Whenever I do indoor painting, my beer consumption goes up exponentially.

My brother was a painter and he said the beer cut the effects of the fumes down to a tolerable level inside the brain.

BTW, he did the fireproofing in the Wolf Creek Nuke.

One of my old buddies, insurance broker and an ex swabbie, always claimed that some of the finest alcoholics he had ever known came out of the construction trades.

And he knew of what he spoke. He could go from being stone cold sober to blind drunk as fast as anyone I've ever seen. If you got around him and the Judge at the same time, you were in for a rough session.
