I've seen them selling overgrown carrots and such to feed to deer, in Michigan. That legal in MD?

Still seems to me that the way to save the rhododendrons is to fill them upon other stuff....

You can feed deer on private land in Maryland, but not on public land. You would need astronomical amounts of food to feed the deer herds around here. The ideal carrying capacity of eastern deciduous forest is 20-30 whitetail deer per square mile. There are places around here with 150.

You should see all the euonymus bushes around my house. All leaves have been eaten off except those on the very top that are not reachable by the deer. Fortunately, this seems to act like natural pruning and they come back great in the Spring.
