Good. This is exactly the sort of program that government is intended for. Sooner or later we have to do this. If we continue to use coal, it will eventually run out, faster if the Republican plans for increasing extraction are implemented. IT's better to make the transition now.

Part of Obama's comment rejecting Keystone pipeline.
"..........we're gonna have to keep some fossil fuels in the ground rather than burn them and release more dangerous pollution into the sky." Let's add coal to this list permanently.

The new challenge would be to bring natural gas to eastern states from the western states, where there is an overabundance. Too bad that nuclear power is a dead concept in the US.
