Nah, he was Union pressman. Ran a 4 color press back in the day. You probably read some comic books he printed. The Archies, Ritchie Rich, etc...


I still get USA fittings and pipe, you just have to specify "domestic" at the parts houses. Not sure why the default is China. I got me some black to run tommorow. All sch. 80 and extra heavy fittings. Steam and condensate lines.

I don't know why they sell that Chinese junk either, especially black iron. Your average happy homeowner doesn't have a vice and dies, and gas scares the bejesus out of them. Doesn't stop 'em from working on electrical, and take it from me, I've seen some amazing things.

I hardly ever run gas anymore...if I did, I'd deal with a supply house. What little I've done over the past few years, I've run into Chinese fitting with voids...a real pisser after you thread it all together and find out there's a hole in one of the elbows.

And I wouldn't be surprised if one of those fittings wouldn't just split from end to end some night.
