The net result, of course, is to make Israel less safe, not safer.

That would be your opinion. Obviously Israelis are aware of all the points you make and yet they have another...and whether anybody else happens to like it, or not, theirs is the opinion that matters. As it should be.

Israelis and Palestinians, from their already entrenched positions, aren't likely to even notice when politicians play to their prejudices and fears and drive the wedge deeper.
