I hear ya buddy. Dad's in the Alzheimer's ward at the VA, hasn't known anyone for close to two years. Can't even get out of bed, or feed himself on his own.
Sad thing is, he told me back when he still had his mind that should the day come where he couldn't even feed himself, he didn't want the tubes..just let him die. Well, he will eat if you poke food in his mouth, but I don't think this is what he had in mind. Fortunately for him, I don't think he has any idea of what's happening to him. Not too sure about the pain, has horrible bed sores.
It's a horrible situation, and I try not to think about it, at times it's more than I can bear.
