Surfing Youtube again, listening to KD Lang: Hallelujah (Olympics - what a performance!), Helpless, Crying (on MTV unplugged, another stunner), The Air That I Breathe, You'll Never Walk Alone and Blue Velvet.
Regards,
D-Ray

Wow, Gotta find a copy. It's been more years than I care to admit but yeah I remember when that one came out.

"Bird Flight" is still on the air, has been since 1981. I think it used to run for several hours, maybe 6:00 or 7:00 to 9:00 AM but now it's apparently only on from 8:20 to 9:30.
I think WKCR streams on the interwebs. Check it out.

I have been listening to WKCR for years - a great local station....jazz, classics and world music.
I love it especially for its memorial programs.....24 hours of a noted jazz artist and the annual Bach festival.
Thanks!

Right! The annual "Birthday Broadcasts"! Armstrong, Parker, Miles, Monk, Mingus.... Great stuff! One of the greatest things about these broadcasts, and also Bird Flight, is Phil Schaap's commentary. His knowledge of jazz is encyclopedic and his taste is impeccable.
