Dudes, please step back and look at her objectively, and you will come to see that your party can do much better. The woman is a ditz. All show, all slogan, all "folksy charm", and little else. There is nothing there. Ask her a tough question and she accuses you of "attacking" her. No. We just want to know what her thoughts on important issues are. And she doesn't appear to have any, outside of parroting the party slogans.

Seriously,
Dave
Folks tend to turn a blind eye to the folks on "their team." Obama has gotten a free ride by his supporters, in spite of doing and saying some pretty dopey things. It appears, however, for the time being, due to the "tax deal", he's raised some serious ire on his side of the aisle.

However, I'd suggest Palin has gotten more than her fair share of criticism. She's thrust herself in the public eye, so she's fair game. But i suspect Obama's comment about traveling to all 58 states, or thousands of people being victims of a tornado in a town of 12, or accusing police of acting "stupidly", got far less mileage here.

That's right.

Now, tell me again about Sarah.

Yeh, but he's done plenty of things that have resulted in people from both parties accusing him of being too intelligent or too cerebral. He was also a constitutional law professor and editor of the Harvard Law Review. So he gets the benefit of the doubt on verbal gaffes.

AFAIK, Sarah has never come close to showing a lick of intelligence. Accordingly, her gaffes undergird assertions regarding her ignorance. Fair or not, it is what it is.

BTW, admitting you don't know the signatories to NAFTA or who Maggie Thatcher was is not a gaffe. It's an open admission to cluelessness, a trait that seems to endear her to her flock of similarly-minded people.

I was not referring to your comment on Assange, but to your comment about the American left. Just like Mr. Cheney did, you are accusing those who criticize as being anti-American. Criticizing our government, our corporate structure, even criticizing our national attitude is not being anti-American. It is challenging the country to improve. I am not proud of being overweight, but I don't hate myself.

With respect to your comment about what Palin meant, how is it that you are so sure that your interpretation is the correct one? She was spouting about her First Amendment right, and I doubt that any of the hackers were acting on behalf of the state (which is, as you must know, necessary for action to be a First Amendment violation). Having First Amendment rights does not insure one that there will not be consequences of any position one takes, whether it be losing a job, losing sponsors, losing speaking opportunities, or being the target of criminal operations. In her instance, speaking also has the consequence of revealing a shallow understanding of policy matters, to put it politely.

Regards,

D-Ray

Uh, no. Its one thing to make statements in the midst of a campaign or political discourse. Its quite another to stand up in the Senate in the midst of a war and proclaim repeatedly that "We lost." Its quite to apologize for the actions of your country nearly every foreign trip you undertake. It is behavior that is exemplary of a set of beliefs that don't belong in positions of leadership in this country.

As for a foreigner being anti-American: My guess is that he's one among hundreds of millions of foreigners with similar feelings - no crime there (a worldwide poll found that most people felt Dubya was the greatest threat to world peace, not bin Laden). BTW, how many Americans spew anti-Chinese, anti-French, anti-Hispanic and anti-Muslim rhetoric?
And we should listen to these paragons of foreign policy genius?

Groomed. Hehehe. She's something of a foil really.

Millions ain't enough. Not near enough. You think Palins' scary - Condi chews up metal and spits out nails.

I'm curious, how do you feel about Kareem Rashad Sultan Khan? You hate him?

"He and three other soldiers, including a corporal from Washington Heights, were killed in Baquba after a bomb detonated while they were checking abandoned houses for explosives. They served in the Stryker Brigade combat team of the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division, based in Ft. Lewis, Washington."

That is your misguided opinion. Obviously not everyone shares it, including many upstanding citizens who love their country.
