March 4, 2024 is on a Monday. I say he skips on the second or the third. After sundown on the actual day. It would have been nice to see him get his ass handed to him in the probably would have been televised trial. He'll claim he had to flee to avoid persecution and of course tie that in to a fundraising pitch.

I doubt he will bail soon. Still good chances for a hung jury and a second trial or appeals after conviction to run out the clock.

And what about his assets or cash, that is a big mystery but if he starts liquidating, that will be a red flag. He may have to liquidate in any case because doubt the cult will continue to fork over money to defend him. But I don't see him leaving his assets behind when he is reported to be worth in the neighborhood of $2B.

Continuing on the Trump tradition of hiring the best people, here is a report from today when the trial date was formally set.

Quote:
In setting an early March date, the court made clear that it was unimpressed by Trump’s efforts to delay. As the hearing began, the judge indicated that his political calendar would not be a factor. Likewise, Judge Chutkan rejected the defendant’s contention that the case posed novel difficulties. “Why is this case complex, other than the historic aspect of it?” she asked.

Trump’s team probably shot their client in the foot when they referred to the government’s case as “a regurgitation of the [January 6th] committee report”. In that moment, they tacitly acknowledged that the DC indictment did not cover new ground. Trial preparation was manageable. Key information and documents were already out there.
All this happened after he called the prosecution and judge "Fascist Thugs". Way to go moron.

A hung jury may still allow him to run for office but that's not a slam dunk. He can appeal a conviction but the SC would have to fast track his appeal to overturn it before the election. I still say he's got too much of an ego to sit through a trial where they'll be driving nails in his coffin. Say he does stick around. Say there is a conviction. He's likely to head for parts yet unknown while the appeals procedure is working. Parts unknown AKA somewhere that won't give him back if we ask. Say he does start liquidating claiming he needs it for "legal fees". His is well known for stiffing his lawyers y'know.

So Meadows has testified to Obama federal Judge Steve Jones that he was a good little nazi who was only following orders from his lame duck fuhrer. And this should disqualify the courts of the State of Georgia from prosecuting him...an immunity argument. Jones has apparently already ruled in another case that the 11th Amendment (I think) does not provide a blanket immunity for any federal employee from state prosecution for violation of a state law.

If Trump ordered Meadows to shoot AOC in the head outside her NYC home, and he did it, does that mean the State of New York couldn't prosecute him for murder? IDTS.

And...so when Meadows said he was just doing his job, acting on orders from Trump to interfere in the Georgia 2020 election...is he not throwing Donald under the bus?

Maybe I'm a little thick but how does trying to overthrow the government and trying to subvert the will of the people, fall under the heading of performing his official duties?

From Meadows in the witness stand.

At what point do the traitorous losers consider it not OK to commit illegal acts?
