Like Henry Ford and Alfred Sloan for example. They admired his labor policies among other things.

A response to this is probably deserving of a separate post. However, my take on the history of prominent industrialists and social elite is that it was any number of diverse beliefs and causes that prompted these folks to believe that alignment with Hitler's Germany was the right thing to do. The common bond, however, seemed to be anti-antisemitism. Our experiences in WWII still have not caused some folks - including many in today's social / political / economic elite - to be cured of their antisemitism.

Interesting point. It's a sad commentary on the human race that hate too often is the primary basis for alliances. Unfortunately, the US aligned itself with some pretty bad dudes because they were anti-communist.

The intellectual establishment, the enlightened ones among us, loved the idea of eugenics.

BAM!

But it wouldn't work, got lots of friends in his district. I enjoy talking about his alien experience, as it'll help when they finally reveal themselves

This was the position of none other than Charles Lindburgh, who advocated the support of the Nazi regime in an alliance against communism. Lindburgh beleived Hitler to be a nutcase. Lindburgh was also an open antisemitic, and good buddies with Henry Ford. Strange bedfellows and all that....

Never have understood why people hated the Jews.

Let me take that back, I do understand hate.

Unless someone gives you a specific reason to hate them, hate is merely a symptom of taking yourself too seriously.

And either way, the only one you're punishing is yourself.

Stuff like that is why we missed you around here.

It's funny how we can take on stereotypes or prejudice without even knowing we are doing it. I remember it being common to hear someone describing the result of negotiations by saying he "Jewed" the other person down on the price, often without even understanding the slur behind the expression.

D-Ray

I personally think stereotypes are funny & people just need to get over themselves. My wife & her friends are always telling people what a tightwad Scotsman I am.
Case in point..."All In The Family."
Best sitcom ever IMO.
