But the special prosector accused Manafort of trying to hide payments associated with his work in Ukraine from around 2006 to 2016, undercutting Trump's claim the charges stemmed from actions that only occurred "years ago."

Many believe Mueller could use the charges to try and pry information from Manafort about whether the campaign colluded with Russia to meddle in the 2016 election.

And yet Donny chose this sleazeball to head up his flailing campaign, when it looked like cooler heads would lead a revolt against Donny at the Repube convention. Donny knew full well Manafort had ties to the Russians, and was utterly corrupt, but also knew he could get the job done, by any means necessary.
