LBJ, the Texan who banished the Dixiecrats and made the GOP America's racist party.

Isn't it more that the southern racists bolted from the Democratic Party after LBJ signed the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts? You make it seem as though the Dixiecrats were the legitimately aggrieved party during the Civil Rights era. Your argument may well find a few receptive ears among those in bed sheets in Charlottesville, but not with me.

And you're indeed clueless if that's what you took from my post. Having lived in Texas for over half my life now, I like the idea that it was LBJ who banished the remnants of the planter class and their minions from the Democratic Party, which is in effect what he did by signing the acts. I also find it a bit ironic that the party of Lincoln accepted them with open arms, although the GOP had more than it's fair share of racists back then too.

Utter revisionist nonsense. The southern racists and the GOP willingly joined forces under Nixon's 'Southern Strategy' and then were further cemented to the GOP under Reagan.

Indeed. LBJ said upon signing the Civil Rights Act "We have lost the South for a generation." He didn't say "I'm banishing Southern members of my own party."

I don't recall saying he did, nor implying it for that matter.

Terrorist suspect ID'd. I'm usually against the death penalty but I wouldn't shed a tear if they gave him the needle.

No schtick involved. If you think I'm a sealion don't participate.
