Anyone into bicycling?

Here's a bike you might want to check out...

I estimate that I've logged at least 100,000 lifetime miles on a bike, but I'm old school when it comes to all this high tech stuff.

I prefer the durability and reliability of simplicity when it comes to a bike.

Mine is built of parts I either cannibalized from other bikes or bought from various catalogs.

I've always enjoyed bicycling but since my radiation treatments I seemed to have lost a lot of my balance and took a couple bad falls on my old two wheeler.

Husband got me this bike to keep me from falling....

Except mine is blue.

By the way, TJ.... My son did the same as you.... Put together a bike from old pieces and parts.

He uses it all the time.

I have two A Giant "Cypress" I bought about 5 years ago and a Specialized "Epic" road bike I bought in 1993. Last year, I went through the Epic and upgraded the wheels and derailleurs. But, I ride the Giant more because it's a smooth ride and doesn't mess with my arthritis nearly as bad.

I do love the light weight, the nimble handling and speed of that carbon fiber road bike, though.

I've been biking pretty steadily for well over 40 years. I've gotten into mountain biking in the past 7-8 years. Great fun, almost as fun as skiing and a lot cheaper and more convenient. Like skiing, I have taken a few painful falls though.

We also bike quite a bit on the C&O Canal, which runs along the Potomac River from DC to Cumberland, MD - a 185 mile long bike path.

In 67/68 a group of us Boy Scouts pedaled the entire canal, from it's start in Cumberland to it's end in Georgetown. Got a medal and a five part patch. The Paw Paw tunnel was intense. Wonder if they've installed lighting. Back then a few sections of the path were pretty much nonexistent and required some serious bike portage.
