Lawmakers ask Ajit Pai about false DDoS claims
They want to know when the FCC became aware a DDoS attack was unlikely.

Only the best liars will do in Donny’s administration.

Ethics??? We don't need no stinkin' ethics

Washington (CNN) - A day after CNN reported that the Justice Department is investigating whether Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke has broken the law by using his office to personally enrich himself, national security adviser John Bolton told the Hamilton Society in Washington that ethics rules make it hard for people outside of the government to serve.
Bolton said "things have gotten more bureaucratic, harder to get things done" since he served under President George H.W. Bush in the 1990s and blamed the difficulty, in part, on the "excessive nature of the so-called ethics checks."
"If you were designing a system to discourage people from coming into government, you would do it this way," Bolton said.
"That risks building up a priestly class" of government employees, he added. "It's really depressing to see."

When Donald Trump ran for president, he brushed off concerns about his own lack of governing experience by repeatedly promising to hire “only with the best and most serious people,” as he said in 2015, adding, “We want top-of-the-line professionals.” When asked, just weeks before Election Day 2016, what his criteria would be for choosing senior staff, he answered: “Track record. Great competence, love of what they’re doing, how they’re getting along with people, references” and, the candidate added a bit later, “you need people that are truly, truly capable.”

... His inability to recruit, or to even to listen to, top people has hampered everything from Trump’s foreign policy to his own legal defense. His hostility to sound advice, coupled with reliance on his frequently terrible instincts, has produced a kind of synergy (to use a newly infamous word) of incompetence in the White House and beyond: Things go wrong on the world stage, Capitol Hill or with the media. Trump never blames himself, instead blaming everyone else, including the people who work for him. Experts — also known as people who know they’re doing — have had two years to observe this and have understandably become less willing to work for him. Their numbers inside the administration dwindle, lesser lights take over, more mistakes are made; lather, rinse, repeat.

Craigslist Ad for Chief of Staff

Senior Official (Washington DC)

A prominent federal government agency seeks a top-level manager for a staff of approximately 2000. We are looking for someone to improve the performance of a staff consisting almost entirely of D-list opportunists.

Requirements:

Experience working closely with the elderly in the early to middle stages of dementia.
Experience running a family business rife with nepotism and meddling, incompetent relatives.
Willing to be on-call 24/7 to respond to national emergencies, urgent calls from world leaders and Twitter shit-storms.

Nice to have:

Russian language fluency.
Established relationship with a personal criminal defense attorney.
Ability to obtain a high-level security clearance a plus, but not strictly required, apparently

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on Tuesday that she hopes to be remembered as being “transparent and honest” when her tenure in the role comes to an end.

ROFL! Is she serious? Is she really this self-unaware? Hard to imagine, but then look at her role model, her dad...

She honestly disrespects the legitimate media and is transparent in her efforts to bullshit them.

REPORT: TRUMP CONSIDERING IDIOT SON-IN-LAW FOR CHIEF-OF-STAFF JOB
Jared Kushner has apparently been “pushing his own candidacy.”

https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2018...chief-of-staff

Quick: what do you do when you‘re the president of the United States, you’re about to lose your second chief of staff in less than two years, and no one wants to work for you because you’re an unhinged maniac who can’t be controlled and the best part of people’s days is when you don’t make it into the office? See if you can get your not-very-bright son-in-law to do the job.

While the president seems to believe that his daughter and son-in-law are eminently qualified to work in the upper echelons of the U.S. government, here, as a reminder, is what the Boy Prince of New Jersey actually brings to the table:

A penchant for f--king up paperwork, having screwed up his financial disclosure form 39 times;

What we assume is a plaque emblazoned with the title “World’s Worst Real-Estate Developer,” having paid $1.8 billion for an aging Midtown skyscraper on the eve of the financial crisis (the family company, Kushner Cos., was finally able to offload the thing this summer, but that doesn’t change the fact that buying it was, as they say in the biz, “a dumb as s--t idea”);

The sort of delusional self-confidence that allows a person with literally no foreign-policy experience to think that he is going to be the one to bring peace to the Middle East;

Seemingly as many business conflicts of interest as his father-in-law;

The rotting carcass of a once-successful newspaper he ran into the ground;

An upcoming Congressional investigation into his close personal relationship with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who the C.I.A. says ordered the assassination of a U.S. resident.
