Collectively implies that all involved in the decision (including Lee) were involved, exactly as ESPN later fully explained. I guess you figure that this somehow mitigates or excuses Trump's Charlottesville disaster. In fact, it's much ado about nothing, other than it gives Trump apologists a very thin thread of hope that they can change the subject from Trump's NeoNazi sympathies to ESPN's silliness (or compassion for their employee).
