Talking What A Week, Eh?

First the SCOTUS turned back a challenge to the Fair Housing Act.
Then Obamacare was upheld 6-3 and Same Sex Marriage was approved nationwide. Wow!!!

As a civil right, marriage should indeed be gender neutral.

AFAIC, other than determining some marital benefits (tax and beneficiary status, etc.), the government doesn't belong in the marriage business at all.

AFAIK, the government and organized religion have a very cozy relationship of which marriage is an inseparable part.

...and the beat goes on.

Court upholds independent redistricting in Arizona and by default California. One can only hope this trend spreads throughout the other 48 states. Gerrymandering needs to go.

All happening with a conservative court and both houses of congress under the GOP. Will make for interesting future contemplation/conversation.

“Control” is the operative word, here. The GOP’s reaction to last week’s Supreme Court decisions has revealed their true agenda: one party rule with no checks and balances. The GOP not only wants unbridled control over the legislative process, it wants the power to declare war and build an empire abroad while creating a police state here at home. It wants to tell you who you can marry. It wants control over your reproduction. It would force every knee to bow down to them."

...and they wonder why so many of us lefties liken them to Fascists.
