Damn right! We went out and saved Europe's ass twice, saved all of the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" and then rebuilt the initial aggressor's government, and if you toss in the Cold War, saved Europe a third time. Hell, we need to send all of them an invoice for services rendered.

Considering that Britain managed to survive for two years and two months before "we" got around to saving everybody I suspect that there are a few allies who would disagree with that assessment.

We like to think so, but it's not so. To wit:

More asylum claims are lodged within European countries than in any other part of the world, and asylum law and policy in European nations and the EU influences the development of such laws and policies in many other countries. Western European countries have a long tradition of providing political asylum; the right to seek asylum is guaranteed by the EU’s Charter of Fundamental Rights.*

I think the Russians may feel differently. We were very late to the party when it came to the defeat of Germany in WWII. The Russians had much more to do with the Germans' defeat than we did by a very wide measure. For example, we suffered less than 1/2 million military deaths in both the European and Pacific theaters, whereas the Russians suffered approximately 10 million in the European theater alone.

No, we haven't collected. As a matter of fact, they continue to collect from us.
We pay to protect them, and they spend their money on non-defense "entitlements". We're the putzes in this picture, Ed.

Maybe if they would stand up for themselves, we'd have a few hundred billion more to pay off our own debts?

Dave

The end of WWII spawned the consumer driven society, destroyed the family unit by promulgating the two income family, acted as a significant catalyst to end the bucolic nature of a rural oriented society and the change to the suburban sprawl we're dealing with today.

Yes, all those other countries were the first to shake the shackles of tyranny and form a Republic.

There are elements of the left that openly expouse anarchy, you know.

Yep. We beat the French by five years (1787 vs. 1792). However; in part, it was their support of us that made our revolution successful.
