Diversity versus Nationalism

I just watched a very funny comedy show performed by a Black Comedian, and I laughed until I cried, he was so funny. I'm one Cracker that can laugh at himself.

But toward the end of his act, his act went into different Nationalities and how they are ashamed of their heritage. How the Mexicans like to say their Spanish, and how the People from the Caribbean like to say their Indian, and how the Black People like to tell you about their Indian great grandmother. Each believing that this makes them different and better than what they really are.

This caused me to return to Diversity, and the Hatred between Races, the Hatred within our own Political System, the Hatred between Classes, the Hatred between the Economic Groups, etc.

These are all due to Greed, Lust, Envy, Anger, Gluttony and Pride.

And unless we can control these sins or emotions, we will never truly allow ourselves to be United. I believe that we must each give up a little of our Pride, and look at each other as others or equals to obtain Unity.

I know it can be accomplished on an individual level, but a National level it will take some doing. First we have to control our Greed, Lust, Envy, Anger, Gluttony and Pride.

My experience in this big city, New York of unwittingly pissing off people...calling a Mexican...Indian, a Chinese....Korean, an American Jew....Russian Jew, and mistaking an Indian from India for a Guyanes Indian.

I do also Dave,

Sloth is defined as spiritual or emotional apathy, neglecting what God has spoken, and being physically and emotionally inactive.

And Sloth is what we have now.

And knowing how much crap I receive if I mention "The Divine Being", I left Sloth out.

If the words of "The Divine Being", in all languages, were followed, even if you didn't believe in, "The Divine Being", in most cases, as there are always exceptions to the interpretation of HIS words, I believe they would help us accept one another, except here on Political Chat of course.

The problem as I see it is when asked about the relative importance of the commandments he replied " ... and the second is like unto it Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

What most people fail to realize when analyzing that, is simply that if you do not (honestly) love yourself it is impossible to love your neighbour, or anyone else for that matter. Truth be known there are few of us that honestly love ourselves. Probably why we attribute such terrible things to strangers.

No, it is due to self preservation. It's "hard coded" in us.

Everything you mention has a positive side to it BTW.

I'm just upset that every time I want to love a hot, female, divorcee neighbor as I "love myself" she never wants to reciprocate.
