Not really. They're Shia and the majority of the Muslim world is Sunni and has no interest whatsoever in following Iran's lead. Syria is their only client state and is circling the bowl as we speak (though Iraq may become one thanks to us). Saudi Arabia (where Mecca and Medina, the holiest sites in Islam are located) is a sworn enemy of Iran (remember that Iran wanted to kill the Saudi ambassador?)

I think this a very rough and mostly inaccurate translation of their statements, though admittedly these two states aren't exactly friendly. You need to brush up on you Farsi. That said, Israel has quite a few "illegal" nukes itself.

Congratulations. You may have gotten one right, though at the moment, they're not producing highly enriched uranium (essential to weapons production).

Nope. They do not yet have highly enriched uranium. Secondly, they need to have a fully functional weapon, along with a lot of technology, to miniaturize it enough to deliver it. Remember what Fat Man and Little Boy looked like?

Pretty much what the Administration is doing - destroying the centrifuge control systems at Natanz via the Stuxnet virus. Assassinating its top nuclear scientists. Imposing tough sanctions. In short, try to make the cost of having nukes exceed their benefit.

The trouble is that the benefits for Iran are huge (in their own estimation). They see that the one country in Dubya's "Axis of Evil" (N. Korea) that had nukes wasn't invaded by the US (as Iraq, the third on this list, was). Furthermore, they see how we attacked Libya after Ghaddafi gave up his nuke program. We praised Ghaddafi before we attacked him. Do you think we would have attacked Libya if they had a nuke?

And lets not forget that they also have the strongest military nation in the world constantly threatening them. A nuke seems a pretty rational move if you are in their shoes. Or are those sandals?

That was the point I was trying to make in the last paragraph of my post. Giving up his nuke program ultimately helped get Ghaddafi laid out on a slab.

Ignore them, it's just saber rattling, mostly for domestic consumption. If they pop a Silkworm into a tanker or one of ours they will be dealing with hundreds of Tomahawks, Harpoons etc. etc. They know this and so does everyone else. Red meat election year scare tactics. Nothing more. The Shia are overly dramatic about most everything. The hawks in Israel would deal with it just like the dealt with the Ossirak facility in Iraq. Closing the Hormuz would be very difficult for them and fatal.
