The risk is that if they uphold this, another fifteen states or so will follow suit leading to serious civil consequences.

On the other hand, I do wish a lot of other states follow suit before SCOTUS makes their ruling.

Perhaps the Colorado's justices have accomplished what they set out to accomplish, determining that Trump is an Insurrectionist and a Traitor.
If he had been charged it may stick. But without charges or a conviction he did not insurrect

He was impeached so that covers charges. Also the way that it is written in the 14th amendment leaves out convicted IIRC. At the time it was passed they had just went through dealing with insurrection and saw the need to suspend this need be a good guess.
Not a lawyer and will defer to a more learned one.

I do not disagree at all. Haven't heard a learned one say the 14th will stick to him yet today.

Edit: I am sure I could find a team blue lawyer that says it will stick if I looked.

How about one of the most respected conservatives from the Federalist Society, a former judge?

Judge Luttig: Yesterday’s decision was a historic, constitutional decision

Trump spent years calling for political candidates to be stricken from ballots

If the shoe was on the other foot, Donny, the MAGAMorons and SCOTUS would be all in.

Where does it say judges need convictions to back their judgements?

Colorado Supreme Court justices face a flood of threats after disqualifying Trump from the ballot
The latest round of threats fits a familiar pattern: Trump faces a legal setback, and officials face threats.

What's the worry? This is just a distraction. The POT will insure that Mango Man is the party's nominee anyway. These Republican primaries are just for show. It's like Putin claiming he won his election(s).
