This jogged a couple of older memories. Back when I was a stupid kid I got my license suspended and had to take the bus to work.

The last 5 mile or so stretch took me through an extremely bad neighborhood past a large project. At the time in front of those on the main street, both sides of the street were lined with mostly stripped out cars, even some burned out hulks.

Every morning as I passed by a young guy would come out of the complex carrying his car battery.

He was obviously going to work.

Another one, my mom was dating a crew chief for our County project authority. He mentioned that the county was spending $65k per unit on renovations, back in the late 80s/early 90s.

If there was discretion involved, that money perhaps would've been much better spent on some other things, like maybe a greater police presence and assisting that young man.

Who's the first here to kickstart the grand plan and move into the hood? Raise some kids perhaps. And how do you create a bigger lot? The house I ref'd was on a 30 x 66 one.

But it's the rich so it's OK to live in better areas? Our rich mans' club (The City Club of Cleveland) had a guy on recently, Clarence Hilberry, a urban regeneration expert from Detroit, I caught some of it on the radio. He mentioned there is waterfront property there that is basically free that nobody wants! Even free, they can't find a developer. There are other issues at play. Maybe a 2nd rate city council (I know the feeling!) has something to do with it.

I like the farming thing, hope they fix the stupid laws. And here they're ripping down vacant houses left and right.

Stop encouraging people like Romney and others to outsource jobs, abandon our cities and stash all of their money in foreign accounts, by telling them it's okay, admirable even, to be selfish and greedy pricks????

There might be a clue in there somewhere.

SpaceX recently completed a test on a reusable rocket. It's supposed to cut the cost of space launches by 500x or something crazy like that.

So let me get this straight. It's makes financial sense to reuse a rocket that sends satellites into space. We obviously need more bandwidth for booty videos. But reusing a city is a tough sell?

Silly.

Must have been pretty tough to do, seeing that the exchanges aren't even up and running yet.
