Do you think this is the first time we've paid for a birthday, anniversary or wedding? I'll bet I can dig around and find all sorts of such goings on at the Whitehouse over the years. Probably even going back to the very beginning.
Don't be such a fool. There's nothing new to see here.

Well, what do you know! It's Saint Ronnies 70th birthday-in the East Room complete with Celebrities, Security, Food, a band, dancing and all. I wonder how much that cost us?

OMG, the outrage! Washington should be ashamed of himself! And so should the other sixteen!
Mini,
Do yourself a big favor; Shut up.

Perhaps you are merely displeased you had no White House to party in?
I'm not trying to be an ass but there's quite a difference between the First Lady and any of us.
Hell, the expense of her going anywhere costs more than what they're doing at the White House short of reanimating the Beatles...

What difference it that? These people who happen to occupy office in DC are not royalty.

Right. It would probably cost us far more if they went to their private residence in Chicago to have the party.
Of course the shallow minded never consider these things, they just react to whatever pisses them off.

But they ARE logistical nightmares that we are not.
They can't just run down to Jack-in-the-Box if they want a burger.

What did I lose? I couldn't find my car keys the other day, but I did end up finding them. I don't recall losing anything else recently, though.
