I agree with you on the need for the manufacturing base I just am pessimistic about the USA going back to a manufacturing level that we had in the 70s and 80s....

We should have stuck with buying American cars, even if Honda makes better ones....
I have owned two Hondas myself....

My CRV has 235,000 I want to get to 300,000.........
maybe I will buy a Dodge Dart or a Ford

idk
but I am sucker late model used Hondas....they are about half as cheap as a new one and if they are under 60,000 they will go forever....like my CRV

Pete
Except that it was Democratic government leadership that bailed out GM and Chrysler and saved Ohio's ass.

Well for what it is worth Imelt is bringing back GE appliance manufacturing from China. You can't innovate a product if you don't build it. It takes Engineering interacting with the Assembly line to do innovation. Also they got tired of travelling to China to correct the errors that were being made. As the cost of diesel fuel rises and the delay in shipping stuff from China it is no longer competitive.

I think we should make flying cars but make it impossible to open the hood. You could only have them serviced at military bases by personnel with top secret security clearances. The penalty for sharing the intellectual property would be death. Of course we could not export them but boy everyone here would be snapping them up like hotcakes. The lithium battery would not be removeable and would die after 5 years, creating a lasting demand.
that is my solution to the recession

If looking at an attractive womans boobies makes one a dork then I confess: I am a dork.

Seriously they could be many reasons why Kerry looked down. If you had the press following you around, taking hundreds if not thousands of pictures of you, I can assure you there would be some embarrassing shots in there for sure.
