Congress is the biggest threat to US Foreign Policy

Or at least so says our new Secretary of State. Bigger than an emerging China or a nuclear Iran.

I guess if anyone ought to know, its someone who just came from there. I've always believed Kerry was a bit of a dork. This comment doesn't do much to change that opinion, I'm afraid.

He's exactly right. FWIW, Bob Gates and Admiral Mike Mullen said exactly the same thing back in September. What's so hard to understand?

Now you're starting to sound just a bit trollish, in my opinion.

How does that statement make Kerry a dork?

IMO, he's right. It's all those idiotic amateurs in the house who think it's still 1780 that are dragging this country down.

Afraid I don't see any trolling. Just opinion.

ish, here's the article in it's entirety. Decidedly weak, is Klapper always like this?

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Secretary of State John Kerry says the greatest challenge to U.S. foreign policy is not emerging China or Middle East instability. It's Congress.
In a speech Wednesday at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Kerry cited the adage that "we can't be strong in the world unless we are strong at home." He called the budget impasse a threat.
The State Department has said automatic spending cuts would jeopardize $2.6 billion in aid, security assistance and other international programs.
Kerry said legislators need to avoid "senseless cuts."
Otherwise, he said his credibility as a diplomat might be damaged.
Kerry said, "Think about it: It's hard to tell the leadership of any number of countries that they must resolve their economic issues if we don't resolve our own."

Only two direct quotes of Kerry and the OP ran with the writer's interpretation as quotes of the SOS. I shall endeavor to find the actual speech (as the OP should have done) before calling someone a lightweight provocateur moving forward...

If he is right, then he's calling himself out IMHO. He's not been away from Congess long enough not to accuse himself making a statement like that. Thus, he's a dork.

He's not the only Senator to realize how dysfunctional the place is. He's just lucky enough to be able to look at the place through a rear-view mirror.

Well, I read the whole darn speech. There's a half hour or so gone that I'll never get back but it was an interesting read. Klapper at AP is an example of of lazy, whiney psuedo journalist who skimmed and picked out some crap out of thin air. Just my opinion. Maybe he's done better work in the past but this one kind of stunk. If you're going to form an opinion of someone, ala calling the SOS a dork, that tiny little piece of crap op ed shouldn't be the one.
