Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm not following. You first point was that no one knew about it until the school outed the child. But the mother had pulled the child out of the school after the school called the parents while school was on winter break. So, at worst other kids might have noticed that the kid was gone when they returned from break, but I seriously doubt the school openly discussed why the kid was gone. If the school had discussed the issue openly, I'd suspect the parents would be suing for more than just sex discrimination.

Still, it doesn't get to my question, which asked how forum members would have ruled on this if they were in a position to do so.

My skin - it burns!

The school 'outed' the kid? What about gym class?

Pete

The kid is in first grade. Do first graders shower?

So you said it, I'll echo it. What parent draws definitive conclusions about a kid's "sexual identification" at age 5 or 6? Conclusions that are definitive enough to put a little boy in a dress and dye his hair purple? And then be willing to take their child and make the kid a spectacle and a national news story? And then try to foist a line of BS about wanting to protect their kid from being bullied? How much less bullying do you think will happen now that their kid is all over CNN in purple hair and a dress?

Freakin' idiots. I suspect that there is an agenda behind the parent's actions, and it's got nothing to do with protecting their kid's civil rights.
