Neo-Nazis and anti-Fascists are not moral equivalents (nor did both start the imbroglio in Charlottesville). The Neo-Nazis came to a lovely, liberal, peaceful and historic college town with malice aforethought directed at the American ideal. Morever, Trump has actively courted Fascists and placed several on his White House staff.

It gave the neo-Nazis one less town square to stir up shit in. It may not be obvious to you, but this is reaction to der Trumpenfuhrer and his neo-Nazi fanboys whose ascendancy he has helped. So, indirectly der Trumpenfuhrer and his Alt-Right base contributed to this. There are a lot of people upset by Trump and the behavior from his Fascist supporters, advisors and enablers.
