It's been a long time since I've found anything interesting at the Goodwill or other thrift shops but yesterday...
This Advent 201 cassette deck. I always wanted one, particularly back when cassettes were the only alternative to vinyl, and the only resource for mobile listening. But this piece was remarkably clean, and it runs perfectly. And...FWIW, I still have some things on cassette that I haven't digitized yet and that are not going to be available anywhere else. No cover, just the deck. Five bucks.
Stock photo...
It looks pretty much just like this.

Excellent and not quite obsolete. It's vintage as it gets!

Trying to clean out the basement and garage, I took two non-working turntables and non-working receiver to an antique mall and traded them for pristine copies of Little Feats' "Dixie Chicken" and the Boss' "Greetings from Asbury Park"

A co-worker of mine just lost his house. Somebody in the 1980s had given him a reel to reel deck and a technics turntable which he never used and kept in storage for decades.
Well he gave me them last week an Akai GX-636 and Technics SL-D303. The tape deck is badly stained with smoke and scratches but actually works. The turntable is fair shape and the good news is it came with a Shure M55E cartridge.
I didn't have a lot of cash so I gave him $40 for the table and I am planning on giving him some more cash for the Akai.

it was two months ago in case you didn't see it on AK.
Listening to the Hafler now via a DAC from my PC.
The pre-amp was the biggest score since I already have the Meters, Amp, and Tuner from a score from long ago.

Robbin, I use to own the Mitsubishi gear. The Amp was the DA-7DC with the cable so you can work the speaker selector.
I kept them for a good long while. In the end the amplifier/meters was the last to move on.
Also own the Hafler and thought it was one of the best sounding amplifiers I ever had.
Nice pickup!
