No charges for Michigan cops who fatally shot homeless man 11 times for stolen coffee

If we're going to have a thread about out of control fascist cops, then lets have it about some real out of control fascist cops.

Michigan police officers won’t face federal charges in the fatal shooting of a homeless man during a confrontation over stolen coffee.

Federal authorities, including the U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI, announced Tuesday that there wasn’t enough evidence to charge the six Saginaw police officers.

“After a thorough investigation, federal authorities have determined that this tragic event does not present sufficient evidence of willful misconduct to lead to a federal criminal prosecution of the police officers involved,” the agencies said in a joint statement.

Police were called on the afternoon of July 1, 2012, to investigate a report that a man had stolen a cup of coffee from a convenience store.

Officers found 49-year-old Milton Hall, a homeless Saginaw man who was armed with a pocket knife and a known history of mental illness.

During the confrontation in a parking lot, police fired their weapons 47 times at Hall, striking him 11 times and killing him.

Agreed,

During the confrontation in a parking lot, police fired their weapons 47 times at Hall, striking him 11 times and killing him.

Prosecutors also declined to charge the officers in the state’s investigation, saying Hall acted aggressively as he wielded the knife.

This is extremely excessive firepower and might be a case of the DA helping the cops actions.

That was fucking hideous. All over a cup of coffee? Why the hell didn't the officer just offer to pay for it?

We have 47 shots fired and 11 hit the man? It was said in the thread about the 93 year old lady that the cop should have shot her in the leg, with that kind of marksmanship how are they going to hit a leg?

Police are not police any more, military tactical units is what they have become. They went from Peace Officers to Seek and Destroy.

Hey Dude, have you priced coffee at a convenience store lately?

It ain't a dime like it was back in the day.

The last time I bought it at a Circle K it came to almost $2 bucks with the tax!

How aggressively? Anyone threatened other than the police?

Any civilian witnesses gone public.

Sounds bad but multiple investigations clear the guys....

I will say the cop could afford the coffee, and I like that model of cop a lot better than 'terminator.'

Into whatever backstop they were using.

Oddly, this sort of inaccuracy is often the norm in such situations. Dump adrenaline into you system then try to hold your sight on a target...

In my training, "combat accuracy" was into a 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper at ten feet. They hit us with a stun gun to simulate injury, screamed at you incessantly, and expected you to present and punch semi-wadcutters into paper.

What we learned:

1. The smaller the projectile fired, the more accurate you were.
2. "Accurate," is a relative term.
3. You can function when part of your body doesn't work.

I'm surprised eleven shots found the intended target.

You are still paying for coffee? Just take it and wait for the cop to show up and pay for it.
