Since "poll watchers" will be useless for fighting either media narratives or evil machine code, what's your take on why Trump is trying to recruit a bunch of them?

To keep people from going to the polls, scare them into staying home. If people think there will be roving gangs of "poll watchers" out on election day, it will discourage people from participating in the election..... unless you're a Trumpist.

Fire up his base and get them out to the polls. I think it's to increase his turnout, not to depress Clinton's.

If the word is out that the Trump poll watchers are also demonstrating their 2A rights, chances are that will depress the turnout. How this will affect the election, who knows.
