Oh I am...A New Yorker now living in Chicago. My mistake was misunderestimating the locals. I wish to refudiate that error.

Had you explained that to them, perhaps they would have been able to appreciate the error of your ways.
Maybe they were a bunch of assholes, but it sounds more like a clash of cultures to me.
But I like ya!!!

Thank you. There's an old saying in Tennessee, (I know it's in NY, probably in Tennessee), that says, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me.. you can't get fooled again.

Can't stand those American liberals either. They're much too far to the right.

I was stationed near Memphis for almost a year when I was in the Navy. A friend lives in Charleston and needed a responsible renter for one of his duplex houses. I lived there for about a year but it just didn't appeal to me.

I can understand that.
As far as I'm concerned, living in New York or Chicago, or Memphis or Charleston for that matter, would be my vision of eternal damnation. I've lived in Houston and Denver and it wasn't my cup of tea.
More of a dislike for big cities, regardless of their geographic location.
Probably shouldn't put that in writing, since the big man upstairs will now know where to attach my thumbscrews.
But I take comfort in the thought that he's too busy running the universe to devote any attention to me, although the local Baptists are quick to point out the folly of my ways.
Of course, they also point out that should I simply accept Jesus into my heart and ask for forgiveness, I can also take my place on a cloud playing my harp.
Once again, I'm too simple to make the connection. But I have my suspicions.

When I learned that the local cable company refused to air NYPD Blue on it's NBC affiliate, bars and restaurants were forced to stop serving before midnight on New Year's Eve because the next day happened to be a Sunday, and every MLK Day brought out the rebel flags on nearly every vehicle, I figured it's time to leave.

Don't let Chas fool you. He's a simpleton the same way Lt. Columbo was a simpleton.

I was hoping that's the case! Wasn't sure if my not-so-subtle phrases were being picked up. Sarcasm can be difficult to detect in print.

Simple by birth, provincial by choice. Hold that thought.
The local college station just played an INCREDIBLE variant on "Time After Time"...the Hornshoppes have never sounded finer.
Sounds like a Kelly Sweet cut, don't think I've heard it before. She's supposed to be coming out with a new album.
Just a head's up for the Kelly Sweet fans out there...in other words, I'm addressing myself.
