I never hated McCain, heck I was thinking about voting for him after that shameful display of total disrespect for his military record Baby Bush showed him. (Why did Bush hate the troops that day?) Thought he was a good man, then. But by '08 he had become a doddering old fart whose convictions change with the blustering winds.

That's what makes him a moderate Blue

McCain/Leiberman - the closest thing to a center ticket we would've had in my memory.

McCain possessed some moderate position at one time, but he has abandoned those positions in the name of expediency. The current caricature of the former statesman is just as far right as the rest of the GOP, which is very far right.

For what it's worth, McCain would have made a better president than Bush. In fact, he was probably sufficiently appealing to moderates in 2000 that he wouldn't have had to be appointed President.

Regards,

D-ray

Not really. It makes him a follower. What we needed was a leader.

Could be.

I admired his military record, and his moderate stances. But, now I see he is nothing more than a team player. The team being his party, not his country.

I wish he would just retire and go away.
