He may be a smart, reasonable and a gentleman, but Brooks is about as conservative as John McCain or Lindsay Graham. In other words, not very...

They should crucify that traitor. What God-fearing Republican can attribute any sense of morality to the foul-mouthed communist tyrant.

I wonder if Kathleen Parker is Brooks in drag. They are such a rare breed of Republican, that it's hard to imagine two of them in the punditry game.

That is the strongest evidence I've seen yet that the Republican party occupies nowhere but the right wing. The place that those two hold in the political spectrum is far enough to the right that you have to buy a plane ticket to bet back to the center. There are no moderates left in the GOP.

And fixed it will be

Don't want to start a love fest here, but Pete's response to the line about Parker is an example of his (generous) sense of humor. He probably does a better job of recognizing humor even when it;s in the context of something less than favorable to his position, than anyone around - most certainly better than me. That being said, I'm sure he will like my remark about McCain.

Does that mean we are in agreement with the extreme right wing of the GOP?

Honestly, I'm not sure if McCain even knows his own positions on the issues. They change more often than his underwear.

He probably has to write them on his hand. Oops, wrong person.

It's all a matter of perspective. By GOP standards, these guys are moderates, if not liberal (although McCain is all over the place, actually). The 2 Maine gals and Scott Brown are downright Commie bedwetters by GOP standards.

One aspect of what you say is true, however. The GOP is truly apoplectic about the 3-5 moderates in their midst. They'd burn 'em at the stake if they figured that the electorate in their respective states would elect fire-breathing knuckledraggers to replace them.
