Here's a really good article about all the legal issues facing Musk at Twitter (as well as all other global social media platforms). He has absolutely no idea what he's up against. Meanwhile, he's firing people there who, unlike himself, understand the issues.

Might be a dangerous combination. Losing and pressured by ego and others into ever increasing extreme measures. The outlay spent was beyond comprehension and may be a sinking in...

Thanks. Good to see TPTB trying to get a handle on some of the darker corners of the web, IOW terrorists and their fellow travelers.

Welcome to hell, Elon.
You can write as many polite letters to advertisers as you want, but you cannot reasonably expect to collect any meaningful advertising revenue if you do not promise those advertisers “brand safety.” That means you have to ban racism, sexism, transphobia, and all kinds of other speech that is totally legal in the United States but reveals people to be total assholes. So you can make all the promises about “free speech” you want, but the dull reality is that you still have to ban a bunch of legal speech if you want to make money. And when you start doing that, your creepy new right-wing fanboys are going to viciously turn on you, just like they turn on every other social network that realizes the same essential truth...
The essential truth of every social network is that the product is content moderation, and everyone hates the people who decide how content moderation works. Content moderation is what Twitter makes — it is the thing that defines the user experience.

Twitter is going down faster than Lauren Boebert on a certain Texas Senator.

I have always felt that social media is for lazy people. My extended family has a Whatsapp group which I was opposed to from the very beginning, even more so after Zuch bought it. I could not get them to understand the concept of data mining and risks of sharing personal info, preferences and dislikes etc.

Like Trump has ruined our democracy, Musk turning from builder to destroyer is about to wreck social media. At least with social media we can bring about its demise without doing a damn thing while nothing can be done with Trump.
