While listening to my local Classical station..

WHRO, 90.3 fm.

They are holding their annual telethon fundraiser this week, and three times this morning the announcer had to come on and politely explain that they are not a "government run radio station", that they "have no other agenda, but to broadcast classical music". That they are a listener supported station, and that this is why they must hold these telethons. He asked that people please refrain from calling unless they are calling to donate, and stated that rudeness and profanity will not be tolerated.

Has anyone else heard of this type of thing going on?

What has this country come to?
Are we really getting this whacked and paranoid?

It's sad. Truly, truly sad.

Dave

I don't think WBJC in Charm City experienced any of that crap, we just had a fund raiser and met their goals. Probably a result of the firing of that guy by NPR and Senator Demented's response in saying he will introduce a bill to cut off all CPB funding - guess he can't stand hearing truthful news reporting, or he is just plain whacked.
