Recognition Denied, Medal of Honor

"24 veterans receive the Medal of Honor from President Obama" WaPo

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politi...9f9_story.html

"President Obama awarded the Medal of Honor to 24 veterans Tuesday, most of whom were initially passed over because they were Hispanic, Jewish or African American.
The emotional ceremony marked the culmination of a 50-year campaign waged by Mitchel Libman, a Korean War veteran who was convinced his childhood friend from Brooklyn was denied the nation’s highest commendation for combat valor because he was Jewish."

Thanks for doing the right thing, Mr. President.

The review that culminated in today's award ceremony started 12 years ago under the Dubya administration. When I first saw the news of this event this morning, I too was a little suspicious. It seems, however, that we're catching up with past snubs.

In 2002, Congress -- as part of the Defense Authorization Act -- set up a review of Jewish and Hispanic veterans who had served in combat since the middle of the century "to ensure those deserving the Medal of Honor were not denied because of prejudice," explained the White House. The congressional action was later amended to open the door for any serviceman or woman denied the award due to discrimination.

Obama was sill working with ACORN to get people in houses they could not afford at the time.

Yes, Tom they do hate it, as is evidenced by the responses of one of our resident 'baggers, obviously determined to discredit and demean any and every action the president takes. Especially any action that might indicate that he doesn't really "hate the troops".

This is common and long running behavior among obsessed and deranged rightwing hacks.
The same brainwashed buffoons that believe every soldier returning from combat since the 1960s is routinely spat upon by all Democrats.

Have a great day!
Dave

It's important to remember that the first target for anger over the Vietnam War was Lyndon Johnson, a Democrat. ("Hey, hey, LBJ, how many kids did you kill today?") The opposition to the war wasn't partisan, really. Anti-war protesters believed that both parties were in the pay of the MIC. True, there were Democrats who ran for office on an anti-war platform, people line Gene McCarthy and George McGovern, but they were just trying to catch a wave. Hell, even Nixon ran on a promise to end the war. ("Peace with honor" and a "secret" plan to end it.)

Sorry Dave the facts state otherwise and has nothing to do with hate. The Op is insinuating that it's Obama's doing that these vets received the Metal of Honer. When in fact it was Bush 12 years ago who started the wheels in motion.

Your taunting is evidence of neurotic spite and malice. Your inferiority complex has really messed you up, motivating you to try to be aggressive and hurtful toward others. You should seek counseling.
