Yeah, I voted shut up already. The Democratic party is almost as corporatist as the Republican party, but "flaming leftie" suggests unthinking positions. I might be close to Soshulist, but too practical to look for candidates that would promote such an agenda.

Regards,

D-Ray

What gets me about this survey is that bug eyed libertarian's even have a column. I'd sooner admit to necrophilia...

Ach I should've added soshalist. But isn't that the same as Democrat? Kidding!

Someone was honest enough to check 'flaming leftie' but no one checked 'flaming rightie'? There's a couple here for sure. I'm happy someone checked 'you're racist', I thought that was funny.

I see I've won! Or is it lol

Being somewhat right of what I consider center, but also being very anti-party you left me with very little option you damn racist.

Partisanship seems to me to be a huge drawback to our political system. Representatives can't vote their conscience (if they even have one) anymore for fear of party repercussions. I would prefer to see people vote how they feel individually on issues and not along party lines. I know, I'm a dreamer, but everybody needs to have a dream, right?

I can't really answer the multiple-guess question. I'm sure most righties see me as a flaming lefty. But I have these issues. Like Israel, and professionally the National Association of Black Social Workers who make me insane with their absurd insistence that it's better for black kids to rot in the foster care system than to be adopted by white couples. Also, I spend 6 years counseling welfare recipients in a TANFF program in the mid-90's...and I got into trouble with co-workers and management on a regular basis with my complaints about clients that I assessed as working the system for all they were worth. And when I supported child-protective services for removing the children from my client's custody because she wouldn't leave the violent dad...that pretty much sealed my fate where I worked for 12 years. (What's wrong with you Ike? She's a victim!!! Sorry boss, the children are the victims.)

Because of the GOP's pattern of positions on marriage, women's issues and reproductive rights, school prayer and teaching Genesis in science class, union bashing bullshit, pandering to inane populist idiots, their thing with this country's democratized gun carnage...and a host of other stuff, I find myself unable to cast a vote for any member of the party. So I guess that makes me a Democrat.

And for all my disgust of American business...we have most of our money invested in it (what isn't is invested in foreign business)...so I guess I'm a hypocrite as well. But there was no "hypocrite" selection in the poll.

Excellent post and it touches on a few things for me as well. Especially the last two paragraphs.

I have to agree with you about the woman in the example you illustrated. I've known a woman that not only stayed with a violent man for several years, after finally leaving him, she showed a pattern, dating violent monster after violent monster for decades. Now, maybe this is some form of mental illness or for lack of a better term she actually likes getting beaten up, but keeping the kids with a mother who apparently seeks out abuse, for whatever reason, is a horrible mistake.

This blindly assuming the woman is always the victim and likewise that only black parents can raise black children (Or whites, Asians, etc..) are good examples of liberal hypocrisy.

Still, for the same reasons you stated I can bring myself to turn right. Not in the current climate. The game is too obvious and the zealots too extreme.

Dave
