No way. The Japanese government would never let that happen. Plus, I heard a slew of soundbites from Toyota owners. Almost all of them said they would definitely buy another Toyota.

Some of you may remember that Audi went through a horrible time in the early '80s over the same issue of "unintended acceleration". It took them a long time to bounce back but they did. (While all this was going on I bought an '84 Audi GT. It's just about my favorite car of all I've owned.

It has now come out that State Farm notified NHTSA about the acceleration problem over a year before they took action.

One of my co workers has a Tundra. Toyota replaced his gas pedal parts over a year ago. With Lexus parts because they knew then the replacement Toyota ones were potentially defective.


Obviously they've known they had a problem for some time now.
